Pros and Cons of Buying a Recreational Property
Is it REALLY a good idea to buy a recreational property? ????
While imagining yourself sipping wine while watching the golden sunset, wind in your hair and sand in your toes might sound like a picture perfect dream, it’s a serious financial commitment. It also needs a lot of time and effort to maintain. So before you take the risk, make sure you fully understand what you’re about to dive in to. Here are some of the pros and cons of buying a recreational property:
Pros:
1. You can make extra income by renting out your recreational property when you’re not using it.
2. You’ll be able to build equity with your recreational property, which is a great way to expand your wealth and diversify your investment portfolio.
3. It’s a home away from home. You won’t have to live out of a suitcase as your property will have all the conveniences of a home and you have the freedom to do as you please and to stay as long as you like.
Cons:
1. There are many added expenses. When you buy a home, you’re not just going to pay for the mortgage. You’ll also have to pay for insurance, utility costs, furniture, and taxes. You’ll also need to pay for regular maintenance to keep your home looking good.
2. Lack of variety. If you enjoy traveling to new areas, you might get bored with your recreational property after a few years. Paying for the maintenance of a recreational property will divert income which one would have otherwise be used to visit more diverse destinations.
Do you think buying a recreational property is right for you? ????
